Check: no severe weather warnings, visibility above 5 km, wind under 40 km/h for driving, and no heavy rain or ice during travel hours. If all clear, it's safe to go. Ice, fog (visibility under 200m), crosswinds above 50 km/h, heavy rain (over 10mm/hr), and thunderstorms with hail. Any one of these should trigger a delay or route change. Light rain is fine. Heavy rain (over 7mm/hr) reduces visibility and increases hydroplaning risk significantly. Check intensity, not just probability. Crosswinds above 40 km/h affect high-profile vehicles. Above 60 km/h, all vehicles are affected. Bridge crossings and exposed highways are particularly dangerous. Check if today's weather is safe for travel. Instant wind, rain, visibility, and road condition thresholds — decide in 10 seconds. "Chance of rain" doesn't tell you if the highway will flood.
