Sun Times gives you the full solar day for any city on earth: sunrise, solar noon, sunset, and the three twilight bands — civil, nautical and astronomical — each calculated in the destination's own local timezone rather than your browser timezone, which is the single most common source of error in sun-time tools. Civil twilight is the window where you can still read outdoors and where most outdoor photography stays usable without artificial light. Nautical twilight is when the horizon becomes indistinct and landscape silhouettes lose definition. Astronomical twilight marks true darkness, the threshold that matters for star gazing, aurora hunting and long-exposure night photography. Alongside the times we show total daylight length and how much the day has lengthened or shortened compared with yesterday, which is the number that actually tells you whether you are gaining or losing usable evening light this week. Solar figures are computed from the destination coordinates using standard solar-position algorithms and cross-checked against the Sunrise-Sunset service, with Open-Meteo as a fallback so the page keeps working when one source is unavailable. High-latitude locations are handled explicitly: during polar day or polar night we say so instead of printing a misleading time.
