For each destination you get daily high and low, apparent temperature, precipitation probability and amount, wind and gusts, cloud cover, sun hours and the composite score, aligned by date so you are always comparing the same day. A winner is highlighted per day and across the whole period, and the reason is stated in words — warmer with equivalent rain risk, or cooler but with three more sun hours and half the wind. The comparison handles partial failures gracefully: if one destination's forecast is unavailable, the remaining ones still render rather than the whole table collapsing. Unit preference is respected across every column, and the entire comparison can be shared as a deep link, printed, or copied as text, which is what makes it useful for group trip planning where the decision has to be defended to other people. How the 0–100 score is built

The decision score you see on this page is a weighted composite of the factors most important to the question in the page title. Weights differ by decision type, and every factor has a "dealbreaker" cap: if a single factor is dangerous or ruins the plan, the total score is pulled down regardless of the other factors.

Because dealbreaker caps apply, a "poor" score is not simply a low weather score — it means at least one factor makes the plan meaningfully worse or unsafe. That's the difference between a decision engine and a raw weather feed.

How we build the recommendation

Snap Weather pulls ensemble forecast data every hour from Open-Meteo and combines it with high-precision solar and lunar calculations done in the destination's local timezone. We translate raw numbers into a direct answer to the question in the page title. Every score is capped so a single dealbreaker — heavy rain, dangerous wind, thick fog, hazardous UV — cannot be hidden by otherwise pleasant averages, and every recommendation includes a plain-English explanation of why we picked what we picked.

Ensemble forecasting matters because it captures uncertainty: instead of a single deterministic run, we look at how tightly a spread of model runs agrees. When agreement is high, we mark the forecast as high-confidence and you can plan around it. When runs diverge — often more than 72 hours out — we mark the day as lower confidence and suggest re-checking closer to the date. This matches how professional meteorologists reason about a forecast, and it beats the false certainty most consumer weather apps display.

Local timing & data sources

All times on this page render in the local timezone of the selected location, not your device timezone, so a sunrise time you read from London still means "sunrise as seen from the destination". Weather data comes from Open-Meteo's ensemble models with hourly refresh, giving global coverage down to roughly 11 km resolution. Astronomical data — sunrise, sunset, twilight, moon phase, illumination and moon altitude — comes from the Sunrise-Sunset API with Open-Meteo as a resilient fallback, and every calculation is done in the target location's timezone rather than the browser's, so daylight-saving transitions, high-latitude twilight and equatorial no-twilight days all render correctly.

We publish a last-updated timestamp on the live page so you can see exactly how fresh the numbers are, and we display forecast confidence next to each day so you know when it's safe to lock in plans and when to check back after the next model run.
